Thank you to all of our friends who attended our 2016 Season Announcement Party in Boston on January 30th! Held at the beautiful Brookline Country Cluband hosted by our beloved Board Chair Jim Sowles, our well-attended event was a big success!  We’re sharing a few pictures of the fun above. A good time was had by all, with delicious food, wonderful company, and the unveiling of our 2016 Summer Mainstage Season (also announced below in case you missed the festivities)!

If you missed our Boston party, not to fear: SAVE THE DATE! You are invited to GAAR’s Vermont Announcement Party in Greensboro, VT. Come celebrate with us at a potluck supper, on Saturday, February 27th at 7 PM. We’ll announce full casting for the season and the exciting lineup of events like our 3rd Annual Writers’ Forum! GAAR’s Vermont Announcement Party will be held at GAAR Board Chair Jim Sowles’s Farmhouse, 4881 Center Rd., Greensboro, VT. More details to come!

And now, without further ado, we proudly present the plays of 'Lovers and Madmen,' GAAR’s 2016 Summer Mainstage Season:

Annie Get Your Gun, the Broadway hit musical comedy. With lyrics and music by the renowned Irving Berlin, every song is a beloved classic, including, “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better),” and “You Can’t Get a Man With a Gun.” Annie Get Your Gun will star Tony-nominee and GAAR Artist in Residence Marla Schaffel as the eponymous Annie. All other roles are still open. Directed by GAAR Company Member Sean Haberle.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedy, featuring a fairy kingdom, a man who becomes a donkey, and the triumph of true love - with a little help of magic. Nicole Ansari-Cox, “Queen Gertrude” in GAAR’s 2015 Hamlet, stars. All other roles are still open. Directed by GAAR Associate Artistic Director Charles McAteer.

To Kill A Mockingbird, starring acclaimed actor Sean Haberle (“King Claudius” of GAAR’s 2015 Hamlet) as “Atticus Finch”, with NEK locals and GAAR fan favorites Macy Molleur (Helen Keller in 2014’s Miracle Worker) and Georgie Sowles (Winthrop in 2013’s The Music Man). All other roles are still open. Directed by GAAR Artistic Director Sabra Jones.

The Sleeping Beauty, the culminating show of GAAR’s Kids’ Musical Theater Day Camp that will run season-long. Based on a beloved Disney film’s telling of the classic fairy tale, children will star in every role. Featuring music by Peter Illyich Tchaikovsky and George Burns and songs such as “Once Upon a Dream,” audience and performers alike will be transported to a magical kingdom of acting, singing, and dancing. Abigail Demers, now in her 5th season with GAAR, is “Princess Aurora.” All other roles are still open and will be cast from participants in GAAR’s Musical Theater Day Camp.

GAAR will also present a brand new, world premiere one-act play, directed by the renowned Brian Cox of the Royal Shakespeare Company and featuring the exquisite Nicole Ansari-Cox. The proceeds of this performance will benefit a deserving local organization.
